Grandview Ridge Track is definitely the track with the view. The view at turquoise waters of Clutha River, Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea, peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park, soft lines of Pisa Range, the chessboard of farms. You just walk and stare at the miracles around you.
The track starts in Sandy Point carpark (or Long Gully carpark), about 17km from Wanaka township, on the way to Tarras (SH8). It ends by Lake Hawea in Breast Hill Track Junction. It’s a full day hike. 38,5km of Grandview Ridge Track plus 4km to get from Breast Hill Track Junction to Dingle Burn Road.
Part of the track follows farmers roads, some of it goes through high grass of Awa Nohoaka Conservation Area. Grandview Ridge Track goes through the private area, so it’s good to stick to the track and not to annoy sheep.
